Caving!

(This only offered as part of the 8-Day Amazon Tour.)

There are a number of caverns in the area. This one is really cool.

(This only offered as part of the 8-Day Amazon Tour.)

Go caving! And maybe hike up to Latas Waterfall and more.

In the caves, you will see beautiful drapery deposits, stalactites and stalagmites and sculpted rock.

Please note that this tour requires a moderate level of fitness as you will be climbing up and down ladders and rocks, and squatting and crawling through low areas on hands and knees. Please also note: For safety, this tour does get cancelled occasionally due to rain. Also, an obese person will not fit through the crevasses and should not try this. Claustrophobia would also be a problem.

Estimated Local Cash Needed: Nada

What's Included: Transportation via private taxi, entrance fees to the caves, and a guide that will be with you the whole time. It will be a local Ecuadorian guide, that speaks English at an advanced level and has a talent for making the tours they give both a lesson on the jungle and fun at the same time.

What to Bring: You will need to bring a flashlight or better a headlamp, also you should wear strap-on sandals with good traction or water shoes since you'll be wading in water most of the way. You may choose to wear shorts or lightweight pants, something that you don't mind getting wet and muddy. And don't forget mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and your camera, of course! Check out our What to Bring! page for a more comprehensive list of suggestion for things you might want to bring when coming to this area and to Ecuador in general.
